Italy offers many beautiful villages that are ideal for visiting with children. They are well preserved and have a significant historical and cultural heritage; and are even family friendly. Here are the most beautiful villages in Italy that also think about the little ones. Between games and activities at any age, here are the perfect places for a summer – or even just a weekend out of town all together – among the traditions and flavors of Little Italy. From the observation of the stars to the games in the castles, to the discovery of the local flora and fauna, and even trips in the woods and adventure parks, guided tours and workshops to become artisans or men of the Stone Age. And so much more. From the most beautiful villages of the Alps or in the valleys of the Langhe to the sunny villages of the southern Italy.
Campo Tures (BZ)
Among the splendid peaks of the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Natural Park, Castel Tures is one of the best preserved castles in South Tyrolin northen Italy. It is perched on a cliff overlooking the valley to the north of the village; and the visitor centre of the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Natural Park offers information on shelters, hiking trails in the protected transboundary area rich in forests and glaciers.
The program of activities in summer and winter is quite ample to keep the little occupied, with “The Adventures of the Elves”: acrobatic, with the high-rope course, the Tibetan bridge and the balance beams; aquatic in the Cascade, in the natural swimming pond or in the baby pool. The bravest can spend an evening with the spirits in Castel Tures or climb the rocks of the rock-climbing wall in Acereto.
Bene Vagienna (CN)
On a hill between two streams, it dates back to the Augustan period. In the Roncaglia hamlet, in the archaeological area of Augusta Bagiennorum, you can visit the remains of the theatre, a portico and an early Christian basilica. The Special Nature Reserve is an experimental archeology laboratory in a beautiful hilly Langhe landscape.
The activities of the Archea association offer children the opportunity to play at being an archaeologist, to enjoy the reconstruction of medieval arches. And in the Roman villa “I Frati”, in the hamlet Podio, there is the laboratory to build a spinning top like that of the ancient Etruscans or try a prehistoric game of 5,000 BC: “Le fossette”.
Casciana Terme Lari (near Pisa)
Located in the heart of the Pisan hills, surrounded by lush countryside, an ideal destination for relaxation and good cuisine. Do not miss the thermal complex of Casciana Terme, and the castle of the Vicars in Lari, which can be visited with a spectacular path that leads through the “room of torments” i the dungeon.
The castle of the Vicars hosts all year round initiatives for kids such as “The Magical History”, a themed adventure also addressed to speakers and summer camps. “Once upon a time in Lari” is an original method to introduce children to the history of the village and its castle. All thanks to a show that is halfway between a theatre play and a guided tour.
