5 DENIM TRENDS YOU WILL SEE AROUND IN ITALY THIS FALL/WINTER
Wide-leg ankle jeans
Also known as cropped jeans, they are definitely shorter than
normal jeans, but much longer than bermuda or shorts. The great news is that they no longer need to be skinny (skinny jeans are still much
appreciated though); on the contrary, legs will have a soft line that widens and are flared.
Very important: they cannot go below the calf.
Flared jeans
An authentic icon in the Sixties and Seventies (a little less so in Italy though), a true symbol for the flower-power generation.
And you have dozens of different types to choose from:
- boot-cut jeans (with medium flare that usually starts at the calf)
- skinny flares (ideal for very thin silhouette)
- wide leg flared jeans (they suit very tall figures; flare starts from upper thigh)
- cropped (the flare ends at the calf)
- with high waist (which are typical of the hippie look)
Just to mention a few.
Skinny jeans
A true obsession for women, for better or worse. Entire generations are still trying to fit in their super-tight skinny jeans, in some cases with less than ideal results.
The question is: will they ever go out of style? Looks like we will keep on seeing them around for a long time.
Patchwork jeans
Another major trend for this autumn in Italy. An explosive medley of denim combined with other fabrics and textures to create super fun and unique outfits. We are seeing this style of jeans more and more on Italian streets.
Tip: careful not to look ridiculous.
High-waist jeans
A legacy from the ’90s, high-waisted jeans come in many different options: from skinny super-tight legs (in this
case, either your body resembles that of Kate Moss or you must avoid them) to the so-called mom jeans, passing for the boyfriend type.
